This Privacy Policy explains how KeepUp collects, uses, stores, and shares personal data when you use the KeepUp app, web portal, and related services (the "Service").

1. Who We Are
KeepUp is the data controller for personal data processed through the Service unless otherwise stated.
KeepUp is operated from the United Kingdom.

2. Data We Collect
Depending on which features you use, we may process:
2.1 Account and identity data
- Email address.
- Authentication provider identifiers (for example Firebase UID and Apple sign-in identity claims).
- Display/profile name.
2.2 App content and activity data
- Tracked shows/movies, watch progress, and library state.
- Notification preferences and notification interaction events (for example app opens from notifications and opened notifications).
- Calendar feed settings and feed token metadata.
- Subscription entitlement state (for example KeepUp Pro active status and product identifier).
- Reviews, ratings, bug reports, moderation reports, and related metadata.
2.3 Device and technical data
- Push identifiers (APNs device tokens and FCM registration tokens) used only for delivering notifications and managing notification preferences.
- Time zone, locale, app version, and device model (where provided).
- Analytics events (for example app launches, feature usage, and interaction signals) used to understand product usage and improve reliability.
- Crash and diagnostic information needed to operate and improve the Service.
2.4 Billing data
All in-app purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. KeepUp receives confirmation of subscription status but does not receive or store payment card details.
2.5 Data from integrations and third-party sources
To provide title metadata, release information, recommendations, and integrations, KeepUp may retrieve data from third-party sources (for example TMDB, TVMaze, Trakt, and similar providers).
3. How We Use Data
We use personal data to:
- Provide core app functionality and account services.
- Sync tracked data across devices and platforms.
- Send notifications you enable (including smart scheduling and one-off campaigns where applicable).
- Process subscriptions and entitlement checks.
- Detect abuse, moderate content, and handle reports.
- Maintain security, prevent fraud, and troubleshoot issues.
- Improve product quality and performance analytics.
- Comply with legal obligations.
4. Legal Bases (UK/EU Users)
Where UK GDPR/EU GDPR applies, we process data under one or more legal bases:
- Contract: to provide the Service you request.
- Legitimate interests: security, abuse prevention, service reliability, and product improvement.
- Consent: where required (for example push/marketing permissions, where applicable).
- Legal obligation: where processing is required by law.
You can withdraw consent-based permissions at any time in app/device settings (this does not affect prior lawful processing).
5. Notifications and Marketing
KeepUp may send:
- Smart release notifications based on tracked content and settings.
- One-off marketing notifications if enabled.
You can opt out through:
- In-app notification settings.
- Device-level notification settings.
6. Sharing and Service Providers
We do not sell your personal data.
We may share data with processors/service providers only as needed to run the Service, such as:
- Firebase (authentication, data storage, messaging).
- Apple services (App Store billing, push delivery via APNs).
- Infrastructure and backend hosting providers.
- Analytics/crash tooling used to maintain app quality.
- AI/search and content metadata providers used to power features.
We may also disclose data where required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and platform integrity.
7. International Data Transfers
Your data may be processed in countries outside your residence. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
8. Data Retention
We retain data only as long as needed for the purposes above, including:
- Account-linked data: until account deletion or valid retention need.
- Notification history and operational logs: limited retention windows used for reliability, dedupe, and abuse prevention.
- Reports and moderation records: as needed for trust, safety, and legal compliance.
When data is no longer required, we delete or anonymize it where practical.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to:
- Access your personal data.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Delete personal data.
- Restrict or object to certain processing.
- Data portability.
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

10. Account Deletion
You can request account/data deletion in-app. KeepUp also provides backend deletion handling for account-linked data stores.
Some minimal records may be retained where required for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or dispute purposes.
11. Children's Privacy
KeepUp is not directed to children under 13 (or the higher minimum age required by local law). If you believe a child has provided personal data without appropriate consent, contact us to remove it.
12. Security
We apply reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect personal data. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.
13. Automated Decision-Making
KeepUp may use automated logic to rank or schedule recommendations/notifications. We do not use solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you.
AI-generated content is informational and may occasionally be inaccurate.
14. Region-Specific Notices (US)
If applicable under US state privacy laws, you may have rights to know, access, delete, correct, and opt out of certain data uses. KeepUp does not sell personal data or share personal data for cross-context behavioral advertising.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date indicates the latest revision.
Material changes will be reflected in the updated policy and, where required, additional notice.
